dt1028
One of several fossils found as mentioned here... http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?showtopic=7301 We found this lying on the ground also in the same quarry. There were more but they were embedded in the rock and we were to little to get them out. I think its half an Ammonite. If you take a closer look you can see lots of little fossils embedded in it. Two sets of pics. One small and one large. Notice quarter for scale.
Auspex
It's an ammonite, or a cast of one. The embedded fossils were in the material that filled the mold. Kind of a two-for-one. mommabetts
Auspex is right, it is an ammonite cast.
Uncle Siphuncle
Having not yet looked at a map your fossils look more typical of the Austin Chalk than the Georgetown fm. Go back for the whole ones! Take a chisel with hand guard, a 4 LB hand sladge, gloves, safety glasses, and commence to steel drivin' like the proverbial John Henry......... Grüße, Daniel A.
