hollynotsowell
Hi there, can anyone out there identify this fossil? It was found in 140ft of water off of the jurassic coast of dorset, England and is approx 25cm long and weighs around a kilo. Any help gratefully received. Tr-J-K
At nearly 10 inches long, and weighing 2+ pounds, I'd say its more likely you're looking at a rib of some critter. There also doesn't appear to be any preserved enamel, another strike against being a tooth. Pretty cool though!

Tracer Jr.
could it be a partial tusk of something?
TheFossilHunter
Too huge to be a dino tooth even with the root. This locality, isn't it where lots of marine reptiles have been found?
32fordboy
Do whale teeth get that big? What about that giant croc? Looks like enamel at the lower left. Nick www.nicksfossils.com
