sweeneyb
I went digging this weekend with MIKEOTB and Evans at Green Mill Run in Greenville, NC. I ended up finding this perfect vertebrae, which I surprised was intact seeing how thin it was. I believe that it is some type of snake vertebrae, but not sure. tracer
i'm not thinking snake. and the sad thing is that i saw vertebrae just like that recently and can't remember what they were from. being my age has its disadvantages.
Cris
I also agree that it's not snake (or any other reptile).
sweeneyb
I heard back from Richard Hulbert at the Florida Museum of Natural History and he told me this: "this is a vertebra from a small to medium sized mammal, about the size of a rabbit." Tr-J-K
The snake vertebrae that I have in my collection have very bulbous anterior articular surfaces, and I don't see that in the pics you've posted. I'd agree with the others - not reptilian.
