Fossil Turtle Egg Shells? Can They Still Be Soft?

I cant really give out to much info right now but on the bottom of a section of turtle shell is a white tough yet flexable piece of something, since it was found in strata I think its fossilized, but I have never seen or heard of anything like this! It had my heart beating real fast when I found it.

hold on let me get the camera, its fairly small there only a few things i can think of, if its a soft shelled turtle it could be some kind of skin, maybe shell im not sure.

I've never heard of it before but I mean shells are made of tougher material, I don't see why if not properly preserved it couldn't remain.

I'm baffled ^_^

I'll preface this by "saying" that I know little of that Cenozoic stuff, but... the carapace appears to be mineralized, so if it were egg, it should be, too. Probably organic.

That looks more like the membrane that you find inside the egg shell to me. Very interesting! :D

Be true to the reality you create.
