ashcraft
Have any of you Arkansawyers ever hunted fossils near Olyphant AR? Probably at a railroad cut? Brent Ashcraft ashcraft, brent allen
Roz
Have any of you Arkansawyers ever hunted fossils near Olyphant AR? Probably at a railroad cut?Brent Ashcraft I hunted in that general area once along the RR cut. One of the most physically challenging hunts I have ever been on. IMO, dangerous. I did find one very nice ech though! If you go maybe early winter would be best. Welcome to the forum!
Ron E.
Have any of you Arkansawyers ever hunted fossils near Olyphant AR? Probably at a railroad cut?Brent Ashcraft The nature of living in NWA is such that fossil sojourns to other states are easier than in one's own. However, I might be persuaded to check things out the next time I have an extra day.
ashcraft
An old fossil hunter told me about it last weekend, said it was limestone of the Clayton formation, earliest Paleocene deposit, recent work is pointing at it being tsunami deposit. Had turitellas and echinoids. It is about 2 hours from here and he said it was probably all grown up now, so I was hoping somebody had some info before I made the trip. Don't know much other then that. ashcraft, brent allen
