I had found this when i was digging fence post. The soil was a sand limestone & gray clay material. The area where i had found it is about 3 miles from Rock City which had the Dakota formation from the Cretaceous Period.

This was found about 3 feet down on an embankment. I'm just curious on what it is it fairly heavy and it really doesn't look like a Geode. And it's about 2" round without the vain like part.

Any input would be great

Thanks Austin

I'd call it an iron concretion.

Siderite concretions are low grade iron ore and are not typically magnetic.

Thanks PaleoRon

I guess the case is solved. So this is a mineral and not a fossil. Thanks Again Austin
