Scales Or Concretion?

What have I found? This is about 1-1/2" long, and looks like it has scales. Our brooks have lots of strange concretions that look like all sorts of things. Thanks!

Tough to say. If it's a fossil, it might be a coprolite.

Probably nothing. It looks like it's from Big Brook, NJ. If so, it's very likely just a common siderite nodule.

I think it is just a nodule of some sort, looks similar to the phosphate nodules i see at Walton a lot.
