PrehistoricFlorida
Well, deer have two sets of phalanges, the proximal phalanx and the medial phalanx followed by the hoof core. The bone is question is the medial phalanx. Here's a picture of a deer leg mount from paleoenterprises.com 1 www.PrehistoricFlorida.com
Harry Pristis
I don't think it's a deer toebone any ideas? It looks like deer from here, Worthy. The Antilocarprid, Capromeryx, is found occasionally in the Santa Fe. A Capromeryx phalanx would bear a resemblance to a deer phalanx, but you'd need a comparison bone to be sure. -------Harry Pristis 1 http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
