amyboone
Nothing exciting, but I thought everything was neat. Dry river bed, it is interesting to see the grooves in it. I feel sorry for all the poor fishies though. And there were thousands and thousands of little opened clam shells that had dried up. We sure need some rain. A fossil imprint in the river bed An interesting rock, or at least to me I think this is a clam shell Two smaller shells
JohnJ
Groovey Nice photos of the bedrock. That person in the background looks thirsty. The imprint is probably from a large Inoceramus clam. They are very common in the Austin Chalk. Is your darker rock a chunk of chert/flint? Cool shot of the river bed sad but cool Galveston Island 32 miles long 2 miles wide 134 bars 23 liquor stores any questions? Evolution is Chimp Change. Traviscounty
Is that the Pedernales? (I don't think you'll give away any secrets by disclosing the river)
amyboone
I guess the rock could be chert. It is about the size of a cantaloupe. That is the San Gabriel River up by the city of Georgetown. What I thought was interesting is that it is pretty much clear of any kind of loose rock, etc, except for the small ones down in the grooves. I guess because when it does have water it is fast flowing.
