John K
Last fall, we "rented" the Caledonia Copper Mine in Michigans Upper Peninsula. For $100.00, the owner/operator brought out 5 front end loader bucket loads of oar and let us pick through it. Hammers, shovels and chisels were provided, as well as hoses with spray nozzles. The 5 loads kept the four of us busy for pretty much the afternoon - then we went swimming! We got to keep everything we found, and we found a lot. My wife found one nugget that weighs over 4 lbs. Besides copper, we found gem grade datolites and lots of other nice specimens of minerals associated with the copper deposits. We even found a couple of tiny, tiny pieces of silver Here's some of the other copper pieces we found: another Datolite we found - it's the white streak running through the host rock. It's thick enough to cut, just like the nodules. When I get around to it...

Frank Menser
Usually I am not so keen on 'pay for digs' (so many in NC are salted) but it looks like you got a sweet deal there! Congrats (and beautiful Cppoer specimens!)! Be true to the reality you create.
