fifbrindacier
Hi, yesterday i found my first trilobites. They are from the french Eifelian : - 390 to - 380 Million of Years. Most of them are very fractioned and the rest is worn but i show here the more presentable ones. I guess they are phacopids. One phacopid mentionned in the geologic file is Phacops fecundus degener. But Asteropyge punctata is also mentionned. 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) I also Wonder what are the following specimen ? A)This one, to me, looks like a coral : 2 "On ne voit bien que par le coeur, l'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux." Miocene_Mason
The trilos are great! Does look like coral, and so does the bottom one. 1 Happy hunting, Mason
Fruitbat
Congratulations on your first trilobites! In all the years I've been looking for fossils, I've never found a trilobite. Of course, in my defense, I've never really gone looking for them! You don't find many trilobites in the Eocene - Pleistocene sediments that I frequent! -Joe 2 Illigitimati non carborundum Fruitbat's PDF Library

Tidgy's Dad
Nice trilobites! Well done. And i agree that the other two are solitary rugose 'horn' corals. 1 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
fifbrindacier
Thank you all. I think i'll class those trilobites in the Phacopids incertae class. Nonetheless, i'm sure the big cephalon and pygidiums are from the fecundus degener species because they can be big. "On ne voit bien que par le coeur, l'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux." fifbrindacier
Just under the trilobite strata, there are crinoïd columns limestones, also from the Eifelian. I found some with a lot of spiriferids Inside the blocks. "On ne voit bien que par le coeur, l'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux." At the end of the year we would have a party at his house for french club and anyone else in his classes. Since we were out on summer break and not governed by school rules, he would demonstrate the colorful use of the french language for us . Latin club was even better. Mr. Schot would through toga parties with a huge bon fire...tables full of food. Once he made us all only speak in latin. Needless to say, it was the only time as it was difficult to converse with the 1st semester students. I love the "trilobite in amber" ROFL 1 ...I'm back. Miocene_Mason
My grandfather was arrested at a protest of some sort (he is, or was, a civil rights activist so not his first rodeo), and he called his mother (my great grandmother) to tell here he had been arrested for protestation. She misheard and spent the night confused as to why he was arrested for prostitution. And one wonders how oral traditions are warped. Makes me wonder how the Native Australians kept their stories straight on giant lizards. 2 Happy hunting, Mason
fifbrindacier
I think the corals are : Cyathophylum sp for the first one and Calceola sandalina for the last.
