New Members Michaelroof Posted August 29, 2018 New Members Share Posted August 29, 2018 I have what appears to be fossils all over the property i bought last year. We are located in North Texas, the area is very sandy with layers of rock. Ammonites are everywhere here. Large ones that measure 3-4 feet across. I will post some of the images I have. I will provide more details in the days to come, along with measurements as requested by some of the more experienced folks. Any idea what this is? It's about 14-18 inches long. As stated, more precise details to come.

New Members Michaelroof Posted August 29, 2018 Author New Members Share Posted August 29, 2018 Very hard, yet shaped so unusual. Not sure why limestone would form like this, but that is what makes life so interesting. Thanks for the feedback.
caldigger
Not formed like that in particular, it weathered away less resistant areas to look like that.
goatinformationist
Yep, limestone weathered, rode hard and put up wet. Keep on rockin'.
Ludwigia
I agree with the others. Got any pics of your 3-4 foot ammonites? Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
