Fossilcollector
Aside from fossils, I'm a big collector of rough diamond crystals from around to world. So I've decided to show off a couple cool ones: 27 ct octahedron: A rainbow of rough diamonds. Intersecting cubes: Skeletal diamond: Dual color diamonds: Interesting combos: -YvW

Frank Menser
Ok..Got this 4 mm xl a while back. It is from the Helam mine west Transvaal, S. Africa. The xl was removed from its Kimberlite matrix and then remounted after evaluation. Still an interesting specimen I think. Be true to the reality you create. tracer
it's really probably a great time of year to think about visiting the crater of diamonds state park near murfreesboro, arkansas. staying in murfreesboro, digging at the park, running up through the caddo gap to mt. ida and digging crystals over there on a mountainside, going over to hot springs and digging crystals on a spoil pile north of there by jessieville. one of the better trips tj and i ever did. he had a total blast. Fossilcollector
Here's a matrix piece from my collection: 3/4 ct white clear octahedron in kimberlite matrix from the Premier Mine of Debeers, Kimberly, South Africa. It was very very difficult to get... -YvW Edited September 13, 2009 by veomega
tracer
other than diamonds, it is also a good place to find nice samples of lamproite tuff and other unusual-looking rocks and minerals that you wouldn't find in your back yard, unless you live on a volcanic pipe. Guest solius symbiosus
Ya, The Crater of Diamonds national park in murfeesboro arkansas is the only place[/b in the US you can go to collect diamonds. Actually, though rare, the Pliestocene alluvial outwash in the northern parts of the country have also produced many "hardrock" minerals... including diamond. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9506E1D61438E433A25754C1A9649D94699ED7CF I also had a Kentucky link, but the site is under maintenance. Apparently not that impressive as a gem, as I paid $100 for it at a show back in 99'. Still a nice octahedron. Be true to the reality you create.
