MotloAstro
Good evening, I'd like to ask if anyone knows if it's possible to find fish fossils in jurassic mudrock. As far as I can tell, it must be exceedingly rare in Slovakia.
Aurelius
Yes, it is possible, but every environment is different. Where I live, they are very rare but do turn up.
Ludwigia
Definitely yes. Check out the fish and shark finds at Holzmaden in Germany if you are not familiar with them. They occur in the Early Jurassic Posidonien-Schiefer. Also the Early Jurassic mudstones on the British Jurassic coast yield fish fossils. But like Aurelius is saying, it depends on the environment.
