Modern types of lobsters appear in the fossil record at the beginning of the Cretaceous period. Members of the superfamily go back at least as far as the early Jurassic. In no particular order, fossils can be found fairly commonly in the Solnhofen limestones in Germany; in the Lebanon, Atherfield, Isle of Wight, UK; Lyme Regis, UK; Bearpaw Shale, Montana etc. 2 Life's Good!
