gieserguy
I just visited Field Museum in Chicago for the Member’s Nights, and I made sure to take pictures to share! During Member’s Night you’re allowed into the bowels of the museum where non-displayed items are held, along with several fun and interesting mini-exhibit/activities/booths. On the third floor, many of the paleontology department were displaying their personal favorite fossils! These next few will be from there.

gieserguy
*Fun fact- I’ll be interning as a fossil preparator at the Field this summer, and when I went in for my prep test a month or two ago, I saw this Lystrosaurus during its preparation

Bobby Rico
Nice report thank you for sharing. I was wondering what people thought of Sue’s new mount and location. I thought when she was in her original spot with her back to the entrance was a genius move to create both a sense of suspense and the wow factor. I have not seen her new home. It looks like you had a fun night thanks for sharing. Cheers Bobby

Mark Kmiecik
Thanks for the photos! Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
stats
The Paleobotany stuff was awesome. They had some great specimens on display. But, my favorite was the horseshoe crab up in the Paul Mayer's lab. I believe that is from the Tom Testa collection. Cheers, Rich

deutscheben
How cool, that looks like an amazing experience. Did they say anything more about the "new Tully display" mentioned in your pic? I'm excited to hear they are planning something new, the current display is a little inconspicuous.

They said a little bit about it, saying how it deserved a better spotlight in the museum. Also they wanted to update it because there’s new information regarding where it lies in the tree of life and the orientation of its body!
