Silvershark Posted July 26, 2007 Share Posted July 26, 2007 It has long been thought that, like modern skimming birds, some pterosaurs hunted by flying low over the water with the lower part of their beak submerged to catch fish and other aquatic prey. However, a new study has revealed that the flying reptiles weren't streamlined enough for such activities. Read more HERE Considering the number of skimmers that end up with broken beaks from colliding with rocks and other objects in the water, I'd have thought that they'd be signs of similar damage on pterosaurs to indicate the kind of behaviour if they did indeed use such a method.
