Uncle Siphuncle
Roz That beach full of 6-8 inch Chesapectens is a private beach in the Yorktown fm (Pliocene) of VA that my buddy took me to last weekend. I must have taken 100 of those things, about 15-20 with both valves articulated. I got some nice whale material there too. It is a very cool place. Grüße, Daniel A. I`ve never seen such quantity of Pectens on any beach! Are they fossils?
Uncle Siphuncle
Yes these are fossils. They are Pliocene in age, Yorktown and Eastover formations. I have took some cemented together in blocks. I'm still waiting for UPS to deliver all 200 LBS of fossils from last weekend. You guys will dig the whale material. The image above with me holding a small whale vert in front of a bluff was shot at Scientists Cliffs last weekend. Grüße, Daniel A. Wöhr aus Südtexas "To the motivated go the spoils."
